Day 1 Arrive at Lhasa

Fly to Lhasa, meet local guide in the airport and transfer to the hotel. Lhasa has been the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region since the 7th Century when Songsten Gampo built his palace here. Lhasa is one of the highest cities in the world, towering 3,600 meters above the banks of the Lhasa River.

Enjoy free time to acclimatize the high altitue.

Day 2 Lhasa

This morning, visit the World Heritage listed Potala Palace, which is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration of Tibet.

In the afternoon, visit Jokhang Temple Monastery, also founded in the 7th century listed on the World Heritage. It is an exceptional Buddhist religious complex.

And then the Barkhor Market around the Jokhang Temple, where can join the Tibetan pilgrim circling around Jokhang Temple.

Day 3 Lhasa

Early in the morning, explore Drepung Monastery which was one of Tibet's largest monastery and monastic universities.

Then walk to Sera Monastery in the afternoon as warm up to the coming trekking. Sera Monastery is well known as the 3 great monasteries of Tibet with Drepung and Ganden. 

In later afternoon, visit another site on the World Heritage Norbulinka, the Dalai Lama's former summer palace, a masterpiece of Tibetan art.

Day 4 Lhasa to Ye Drokpa

This morning, drive from Lhasa to the east in the Kyichu valley for about an hour, and will get to Drushi village, from where we are suppose to start the trekking. The tour guide will arrange the yaks there; meanwhile have the time to take some shots.

The trekking for this day will not be too tough, as we don’t have to climb any passes. Mostly, walking on the rough path and we have the chances to see marmots.

Day 5 Ye Drokpa to Balang Tsoto

Today, climb a pass called Shukar La pass which is approximately 5250m/17,220ft. The path is quite gradual slope and we walk quite slowly. Once get on the top, see the snows and the prayer flags. This pass is snow caped all over the year. After taking some pictures there at the pass, start the trek towards Balang Tsoto, where there is a small lake, and camp there. This is a nomadic place where can see many nomads with there Yaks here and there.

Day 6 Balang Tsoto to Nyalai Sumdho

As the previous two days, going to start the trek in the morning, this day also have a pass called Jedhul La pass, which is not as high as the first one. And then walk on a very gradual slope down by the river. Of course, need to cross the river many times. Slowly and slowly reach in the forest with different kinds of trees like Alpine, Poplar and Willows etc. And going to put our tents right in the middle of the forest, which is a very nice place to camp.

Day 7 Nyalai Sumdho to Samye via Yerma Lung

This day, the trek is quite easy, as there don’t have any passes. By trekking through the jungle for about three hours get to Yerma Lung. Have the lunch once get there. Here, we have the options to go up to see the caves of the Padmasambava. If not we can go directly towards Samye. From where we can have a massive visit to the first monastery ever founded in Tibet, owning all the three Buddhist treasures of Buddha, Dharma and Monks.

Day 8 Samye to Tsedang

After leisure explore around Samye Monastery, drive to visit Ganden Monastery . Ganden Monastery is one of the earliest and largest Buddhist monasteries in the region. It is the first among the temples of the Gelugpa, or Yellow Hat sect. Its significance extends many sectors, including the religious, artistic, political and cultural.

Day 9 Depart Lhasa

Depart Lhasa for the next destination after strolling on the streets of Lhasa.
